GEARE Ambassadors
GEARE Ambassadors is the student org around the GEARE program. It's great organization to make friends, gain leadership skills, and get ready for an amazing international experience! We manage resources for students (like this webpage!), help students prepare to go abroad, run professional development events, and host fun social events to help students get to know other members of their cohort.
GEARE Ambassadors exec board is made up of our president, three vice presidents, and several directors. The vice presidents and directors are split between three pillars with different focuses: Development, Growth, and Communications. General meetings are once a week in the Fu Room, Potter 234, with one additional pillar meeting per week.
Development
Development is the events pillar! They host all the great social events that you see every year, from our annual Spring BBQ and Exploration Acres trip to the more lowkey Tap Trivia nights. On top of that, they also run professional development event and spearhead recruiting with other clubs, freshman engineering classes, and incoming student fairs. It's a very lively pillar to join, and they are very excited about creating a closer GEARE community!
Growth
Growth aims to, well, grow the program! Everything from merchandise to finances to outreach is included in this pillar. While GEARE is unique to Purdue, getting more people aware of and excited about the program is an important step towards having a more engaged GEARE community. No matter what you're interested in or what skills you have, there is a place for you in the Growth pillar!
Communications
The Communications pillar does what you would expect and then some -- they manage and update our website and social media accounts, create promotional videos and graphics, host alumni events, and put together resources to help make the process as easy as possible for students. Communications is a great pillar to join because things are different every week, and they never fail to have a serious conversation derail into fun during meetings!
Should I Join GEARE Ambassadors?
Definitely! The college experience is all about meeting new people and trying different things, and GEARE Ambassadors is a great way to do just that. While it's definitely a resume booster in terms of organizational, leadership, and teamwork skills, it's also an amazing group of motivated individuals who can support you along your GEARE journey and have a ton of fun along the way. If you're on the fence, do it! Plus, our interest form is really easy!
